Biostar NutriProducts, Inc., a licensed distributor and manufacturer of animal health products, has significantly advanced its sustainability and cost-efficiency goals through a partnership with Spectrum, a subsidiary of Manila Electric Co. (Meralco). The collaboration, which involved the installation of a 24.96-kilowatt-peak (kWp) solar rooftop system at Biostar’s poultry farm in San Pablo City, Laguna, has delivered notable results since its activation in April 2022.
To date, the solar project has generated approximately 21,520 kilowatt-hours (kWh) of clean energy, leading to energy cost savings of nearly ₱167,000. Furthermore, Biostar has achieved a 15.33-ton reduction in carbon emissions—equivalent to planting more than 700 trees or reducing vehicle travel by 61,054 kilometers annually. This project underscores Biostar’s commitment to integrating sustainable practices into its operations, aligning with global efforts to combat climate change.
Spectrum, leveraging Meralco’s expertise and safety track record, provides tailor-fit solar solutions for industrial, commercial, and residential customers. Through its end-to-end services, Spectrum helps partners like Biostar reduce costs while making a positive environmental impact. According to Spectrum president and CEO Ferdinand Geluz, partnerships like these empower businesses to meet their sustainability goals without compromising operational efficiency.
Biostar’s solar initiative is part of Spectrum’s broader efforts to collaborate with various industries. Alongside projects with other notable partners such as The Orchard Golf and Country Club, Aficionado, and Takoyatea, Biostar’s success showcases the potential of renewable energy to drive economic and environmental benefits across sectors.
